Feast of St Stephen
Wednesday 26th at 12 noon

This year we are celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Altar Servers’ Guild of St Stephen in this parish.  All Altar Servers are expected to attend this Mass and their families are strongly encouraged to be there to support them.  It would be great to have as many parishioners as possible at this Mass to show our appreciation.

Nativity-500.jpgChristmas Greetings

Very many thanks to everybody for their Christmas greetings and gifts.  And to all of you who have given me personal support and encouragement during 2018.

A special thanks to those who contribute to the Christmas ceremonies - church cleaners, flower arrangers, musicians, sacristans, altar servers, readers, collectors and those who prepare the crib and decorate the Church.

Many of you will be aware that there are now several parishes in Leicester that do not have a resident priest. It is quite likely in the year ahead that we will see an acceleration of changes across the diocese.  I am sure that in a spirit of faith and co-operation we will be able to rise to the challenges ahead.

On behalf of the Parish, I would also like to thank everybody who contributes to the life of St Peter’s, whether spiritually or in other practical ways throughout the year.

Wishing you and your family peace, joy and every blessing in this Holy Season.

Fr John Cahill

Please Pray For

The repose of the soul of Fr Thomas Breslin who died recently. His funeral will take place at St Wilfrid’s Coalville on Tuesday 8 January 2019 at 11.30am. May he rest in peace.

Christmas Collection

Please note that all monies collected at the Christmas Masses go into the parish fund and not to the Parish Priest.

Christmas Crib Offerings

This year, we will be supporting our two parish charities – Menphys & Sound Cafe.  As you come before our Nativity scene to offer your thanks and prayers, please think about making a donation this Christmastime to support those in need.  Thank you for your generosity.

Fundraising - West Leicester Catholic 300 Club

Congratulations to all members of our West Leicester Catholic 300 Club for supporting our fundraising for the three parishes of Mother of God, Blessed Sacrament and St Peter’s.   Thanks to your generous contributions, we have realised a dividend of £8,100 for the year ending October 2018, giving £2,700 to each of the 3 parishes.  Many thanks to all collectors and committee members who have worked hard throughout the year to help manage the process that has achieved this great result.

Parish Charities 2019

We will be supporting the following charities during 2019...

Menphys Menphys

Menphys is a local Leicester and Leicestershire charity that aims to provide services that support local disabled children and young people and their families.

Sound Cafe Sound Cafe

Sound Cafe provides a safe creative space for people who are homeless, socially isolated or living in vulnerable housing in Leicester and Leicestershire. They offer the opportunity to listen to and take part in musical and artistic practice and performances as a means of improving well-being and self-esteem.

Parish Hall

Please note that the parish is not available for personal hire for private parties or functions and is only used for parish events.

One Roof Project

The Winter Night Shelter needs the following items... Adult colouring books; 4 socket extension lead 5 metre cable; 3 camp beds; laundry bags and tags.  Financial donations to support buying items would also be appreciated. Night shelter volunteers are also needed and if you are interested, please pick up a leaflet for more information or contact Salma on 0116 442 2007.  We will be hosting this initiative on Saturday 22 December and Saturday 5 January.
