Singing for Christmas

We are again this year forming a choir to sing at the Christmas Vigil Mass and to provide some singing in one or two of the local nursing homes. This week we will be practicing after the 11.15am Mass.  Please come and join us!

Sunday 2 December 3.15pm Divali Nivas Nursing Home.  Meet at the Church at 3.00pm to walk together

Saturday 15 December at 2.00pm at Abberdale House on Hinckley Road.  Meet at church at 1.50pm if you want to walk up together.

Christmas Church Clean

Saturday 22 December 1.30-3.30pm.   Please consider giving up a bit of time to come and help give the Church a thorough clean before Christmas!  If you are able to bring cleaning materials, step ladders etc it would be a great help.  I take this opportunity to thank our dedicated group of parishioners who clean the church week in and week out.

This year we are celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Altar Servers Guild of St Stephen in this parish.

Ordination to the Diaconate - Liam Carpenter on Friday 18 January 2019, at 7.00pm at St. Bernadette’s, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.

And John Owens on Saturday 8 December at The Chapel of Oscott Seminary.

God willing, both will be ordained to the Priesthood next summer.

Ordination to the Priesthood - Reverend Deacon Paul Smith on Saturday 26 January 2019, at 11.30am in the Cathedral of St. Barnabas, Nottingham.

Menphys is a local Leicester and Leicestershire charity that aims to provide services that support local disabled children and young people and their families.

Sound Cafe Sound Cafe

Sound Cafe provides a safe creative space for people who are homeless, socially isolated or living in vulnerable housing in Leicester and Leicestershire. They offer the opportunity to listen to and take part in musical and artistic practice and performances as a means of improving well-being and self-esteem.

West Leicester Catholic 300 Club Announcement

Thank you to those members who are up to date with their subscriptions for the current year commencing November 2018.

For those members choosing to pay yearly by cash or cheque, please note that payments are now overdue, and members are kindly reminded that subscriptions are due in advance of the draw, in accordance with the membership rules, and as is the case with those who are contributing by standing order.  Winning cheques will only be paid once we have verification of up to date subscriptions.

Can members please ensure they are up to date with subscriptions by Sunday 9 December – either yearly £60 or monthly for the first two months.  In the event of non-payment of subscriptions by mid-December, it will be assumed that membership is to be withdrawn and the number will be re-allocated to those on our waiting list to join.

Where appropriate, the draw will be re-run, in fairness to our members, and announced retrospectively.  If you wish to change to monthly payments, either by standing order or cash/cheque, please see one of our collectors (Mary – 6.30 Sat, Ann – 8.45 Sun, Donna or Marian – 11.15 Sun) – or call Marian on 0116 2246258 

Parish Hall

Please note that the parish is not available for personal hire for private parties or functions and is only used for parish events. 

One Roof Project

The Winter Night Shelter needs the following items... Adult colouring books; 4 socket extension lead 5 metre cable; 3 camp beds; laundry bags and tags.  Financial donations to support buying items would also be appreciated. Night shelter volunteers are also needed and if you are interested, please pick up a leaflet for more information or contact Salma on 0116 442 2007.  We will be hosting this initiative on Saturday 22 December and Saturday 5 January.

Abberdale House Residential Care Home, Hinckley Road on Saturday 15 December 2.00-5.00pm.  All welcome and any funds raised will go to the Residents Comfort Fund.

Leicestershire Active Catholic Youth

Advent Youth Mass on Sunday 16 December 2018 at St Mary's Catholic Church, South Wigston, Leicestershire, LE18 4PG.  6.00pm.   Pizza and Light Refreshments will take place in the hall afterwards.
