300 Club Grand Prize Draw

Sunday 28 October 2018

Blessed Sacrament Church Hall

After the 10.00am Mass

1st prize: £1000, 2nd prize: £500,  3rd prize: £250, and the usual £100 (end of each month), £50 (end of each week) and two prizes of £25 (end of each week)

Only fully paid-up members will be eligible for the Grand Prize draw – if you wish to check whether your subscriptions are up to date, please see Mary, Ann, Donna or Marian who are usually available in the porch after Mass on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month, or call Marian on 0116 2246 258

For the year beginning November 2018 all existing fully paid-up members will be carried forward with current membership numbers.

The Prize structure will remain unchanged.

Hospital Chaplaincy

If you are going into hospital for treatment you are advised to let your parish priest know beforehand.  It is often appropriate to receive the Sacrament of Anointing before admission into hospital.  If you or a family member is in hospital for a period of time, let your priest know and an arrangement can be made to bring you Holy Communion. Given the diminishing numbers of priests, the day to day work of hospital chaplaincy is being delegated to lay people. It is, therefore, increasingly important that Catholics take the initiative in requesting pastoral care while in hospital.

SPUC Lobbying Cards

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children has produced postcards to send to your MP urging them to vote against a dangerous abortion bill to be presented in Parliament on Tuesday 23 October. The proposed decriminalisation of abortion would effectively remove all legal protection for unborn babies. The cards are available in the church porch.

Fr John Away

Fr John will be away until Saturday 27 October.  During this time, the parish office will also be closed.  If you need a priest in an emergency at home, please telephone 0116 287 5232, 0116 255 3856 or 0116 285 8795. If in hospital, contact the chaplaincy or ward staff for assistance.  Daily Mass will be said in the parish, but all other administrative or general enquiries will need to be dealt with upon the parish priest’s return.
