Parish Fundraising Event
Tuesday 17 April at 7.00pm
Chef & Spice Restaurant

As a token of thanks for permitting limited use of our car park, the owners of the restaurant are offering us a free fundraising evening at the Chef & Spice Restaurant.

All the proceeds of the ticket sales and raffle will go to support out two parish charities – The Laura Centre and The Bridge Homelessness to Hope.  The ticket price is £10 per person which includes an ‘all you can eat’ buffet of predominantly Indian food, although some non-Indian options are also available. Drinks will be extra.

100 Tickets are now available – please help us to sell them all!  Click here for the event poster .

The Bridge Leicester The Bridge Leicester

The Bridge – Homelessness to Hope is an outreach to the lost and lonely of Leicester, to the homeless and to those who just have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

The Laura Centre The Laura Centre

The Laura Centre offers specialist bereavement counselling to parents whose child has died and to children or young people who have been bereaved of a parent or significant person.

Many thanks to all of you who offer regular financial support to the Church and to all who help to administer the parish’s financial affairs.

There are different ways you can contribute to the needs of the parish.  Detailed below are some suggestions we hope you will find helpful, especially if you are new to the parish.

The Church benefits from tax concessions through the Gift Aid Scheme.  If you use a box of envelopes or pay by standing order, the Church can re-claim the taxable amount of your offering at no cost to yourself.  You will need to sign a Gift Aid Declaration Form which is held by the Diocese and Parish Office for our records.  Forms are available from the Distributors at the back of Church or from the Parish Office.

STANDING ORDER:  For those who are in a financial position to give the same amount to the Church each week or month, setting up a Standing Order makes the administration much simpler.

OFFERTORY ENVELOPES:  Alternatively, you might prefer the more traditional method of just contributing through the use of envelopes.
IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please do not begin using the new envelopes until April.  Each envelope is dated for your convenience.

Current Members - Envelope Boxes are ready for you to collect, from the table in the porch.  Just pick up the box with your name on it.
New Members – If you wish to become a regular giver, either by using the Envelope Scheme or Standing Order, please speak to one of the distributors, or contact Claire in the our Parish Office and she will assist you.

Good Friday / Easter Collections

The second collection on Good Friday will be for the Holy Places of Palestine.

All money placed in the Easter Sunday Collection (except designated envelopes such as Cafod) go to the Parish Fund.

Good Friday Fast & Abstinence

The Church’s Law re-affirms that Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are to be observed as days of fast and abstinence. Fasting means that the amount of food we eat is considerably reduced. Abstinence means that we give up a particular kind of food or drink or form of amusement. Those over eighteen are bound by the law of fasting until the beginning of their sixtieth year, while all over fourteen are bound by the law of abstinence. Priests and parents are urged to foster the spirit and practice of penance among those too young to be the subjects of either law.

Chrism Mass

This takes place on Wednesday 28 March at 11.30am at St Barnabas Cathedral Nottingham.  Each year at this Mass priests of the diocese renew the promises they made at their Ordination. The Bishop blesses the Holy Oils which are used in celebration of the Sacraments throughout the year.

300 Club Members

We would like to encourage all yearly and monthly 300 Club members to bring their membership subscriptions up to date before end of March, as we have a waiting list of those who wish to join.  To make a payment, please see one of the collectors, holding the blue clipboard in the the porch before/after Mass:   Mary (Sat 6.30pm), Ann (Sun 8.45) or Donna/Marian (Sun 11.15).  Anyone wishing to change the way they subscribe or any other queries, please call Marian on 0116 2246 258.
