Nativity-500.jpgChristmas Greetings

Very many thanks to everybody for their Christmas greetings and gifts.  And to all of you who have given me personal support and encouragement during 2017.

A special thanks to those who contribute to the Christmas ceremonies - church cleaners, flower arrangers, musicians, sacristans, altar servers, readers, collectors and those who prepare the crib and decorate the Church.

On behalf of the Parish, I would also like to thank everybody who contributes to the life of St Peter’s, whether spiritually or in other practical ways throughout the year.

Wishing you and your family peace, joy and every blessing in this Holy Season.

Fr John Cahill

Christmas Crib Offerings

This year, we will be supporting our two parish charities – The Laura Centre and The Bridge, Homelessness to Hope.

As you come before our Nativity scene to offer your thanks and prayers, please think about making a donation this Christmas time to support those in need.  Thank you for your generosity.

The Bridge Leicester The Bridge Leicester

The Bridge – Homelessness to Hope is an outreach to the lost and lonely of Leicester, to the homeless and to those who just have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

New Year’s Eve

The traditional hymn of thanksgiving, ‘Te Deum’ for all the blessings of the past year will be sung before Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament on Sunday 31 December at 6.00pm.  This will be followed by a celebratory sherry / mince pie in the hall.   All Welcome!

The Pope’s Prayer Intention for January

Evangelisation: Religious minorities in Asia – that Christians, and other religious minorities in Asian countries, may be able to practice their faith in full freedom.

Menphys Carol Concert

Thank you to those who supported this event at De Montfort Hall.  It raised over £7,300 for the support of disabled children and young people in Leicestershire.

Dates For Your Diary

ABBA Christmas Musical

By public demand, “Mother Mary” the musical version of the Christmas story with specially written words to the music of “Mamma Mia” is being presented again in Hinckley this year. First written and produced in 2010, it was presented to great acclaim also in 2011 and 2013, and has so far raised in excess of £8,500 for local charities working with people in need. A choir of 75 people and a group of people with learning difficulties will be presenting the 18 song musical, 7:30pm at:

St.Peter’s Church, Hinckley on Thursday January 14 and Tuesday January 19
St.Mary’s Church, Loughborough on Friday December 15
St.Joseph’s Church, Leicester on Monday December 18.

A unique ‘interactive’ feature of the production is that the audience are invited to sing the songs with the cast, who are at present very excited at the opportunity of presenting it again. Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 concessions and, because of generous sponsorship, the entire proceeds will be distributed to charities in Hinckley, Loughborough and Leicester just in time for Christmas. Pilgrimages

There are two pilgrimages in 2018, picking up Leicester.  One in April to Lisieux and one in June to Lourdes & Nevers.
