As the event took place the day after the Royal Wedding, our theme this year was ‘weddings’ and we had a street party type atmosphere.

The quiz was also a great laugh with some taking it a little more seriously than others!  It was also a chance for a number of our parish community to bid farewell to Fr Eddy before his 3 month summer sabbatical.

About the Canon Caus Charity

Canon Francis Caus was the first Parish Priest in St Peter’s, from 1905 until his death in 1931. When he died he left a legacy with which The Charity of Francis Caus was formally founded on 27 November 1935.

The charity was set up for the benefit of the poor and elderly of the original parish of St Peter’s, which also includes the current parishes of Mother of God and Blessed Sacrament.

Money raised from various events, together with interest from invested funds allows the Trustees to organise a Christmas lunch for the elderly of the parishes and also a summer outing.

Practical help may also be offered to individuals, following consultation with the Parish Priest as Spiritual Advisor, for consideration and consent of the Trustees.

If you would like to learn more about how you can help with this charitable work, or if you know of anyone within the parish who may be in need of practical assistance, please contact Ian Knight or Fr Eddy via the presbytery.
