Give it up for Lent 2010

Most of us usually give up something for Lent like biscuits, wine, a big dinner on a Friday. This year why not create some amazing changes for people who live in the developing world by giving the money saved to CAFOD?

The money you save by missing out on your favourite biscuits each day, for example, could go towards a bicycle to help a health volunteer take food to orphaned children.

You can read more about the impact our Lenten sacrifices could have on the CAFOD Fast Day Envelopes, which have been available at the back of church during Lent or by visiting their website: www.cafod.org.uk

We have a vision
God of light and life,
we have a vision of a shining new world,
of lives transformed and people inspired
as the shackles of poverty are shattered,
and your people are set free.
We have a hope of enough for everyone,
of a world where your gifts are fairly shared
and your creation flourishes
as the barriers of injustice are broken down.
Spirit of God, transform us
so that we can transform the lives of others.
Work through us so our vision becomes reality.
Convert our hope to truth,
so that all humanity may flourish
and all the earth cry out with joy.     Amen

Holy Week & Easter Leaflet

This year, we have produced a card giving the times of the Holy Week and Easter services in the parish, together with an Easter message from Fr Eddy.

They are available in the porch, so please take one home with you today and also give out to your friends and family who you think may be interested in coming to our Church this Easter.  There are plenty, so please take as many as you need!

Pastoral Visits

If any housebound parishioners would like to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Easter please let Fr Eddy know so that he can make those visits a priority in the coming fortnight.

Palm Sunday Passion Readings

Two extra readers are required at all the Masses next weekend to help read the Passion.

One reader is required to be the narrator and the other to read the ‘other single voices’. Please sign the list at the back of church.

Christ the King School

Thank you for your prayers last Monday. We had a successful day and appointed two candidates as Assistant Headteachers.

Planned Giving Envelopes

There are still a few boxes of envelopes on the table in the porch.  If you are a box-holder, please pick yours up today.

Poland Pilgrimage

We have 42 pilgrims for our pilgrimage in October. Hopefully you will have received an acknowledgement of your booking from Tangney Tours. Don’t forget that the final balance is due at the beginning of August, 8 weeks before departure.

Please send your payments directly to Tangney Tours.  We will have a pre-pilgrimage gathering sometime in the autumn to prepare ourselves for the pilgrimage.

London Marathon for LOROS

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored Fr David so far.  He’s training hard so if you would like to support his efforts, you can do so by going to www.justgiving.com/david-cain or by adding your details to the sponsor forms at the back of church.

There are some postcards in the leaflet rack of our final Station of the Cross “The Resurrection”.  These might make suitable greeting cards for Easter.  Please take as many as you can use and put an offering in the piety stall box by the newspapers.
