Youth Activities
Are you at secondary school and would like to have time to meet up with your friends and chill out, whilst also exploring your faith in a fun and relaxed environment? If your answer is 'yes' then read on!....
Our Youth Group is a joint initiative between the parishes of St Peter's Catholic Church and St Anne's Anglican Church. The group is aimed at those in Year 7 and above at school, with members welcome up to the age of 18 years old. Our meetings take place at St Peter's Church Hall on Tuesdays and St Anne's Church Hall on Sundays, typically about once a month at each venue, so meetings are approximately once a fortnight overall; and involve games, exploring our faith (we are currently using Youth Alpha material to explore our faith) listening to music, free time to chill, food time - normally pizzas!, and we always finish off our evening with night prayer. We also have regular social events every month or so, where we'll go to local places to just chill out as a group! Once or twice a year we also try to organise a weekend pilgrimage and days out a bit further afield - such as day trips to London and weekends at Ampleforth Abbey in Yorkshire from where we have recently returned from another inspirational weekend with Fr Bede.
Dates of meetings are advertised in St Peter's newsletter and can also be found on this webpage (on the right) or on the diary page. New members are always welcome and you can ask Sarah, Angela, Chris or Ian for more info - someone's normally around at the weekend Masses at St Peter's; or Caroline & Paul at St Anne's. We hope to see you at our next meeting!
Ampleforth Pilgrimage: We have recently returned from Ampleforth over the weekend of 2-4 March 2012. The aim of the retreat was to help us reflect on your life as a Christian growing up in the 21st century - where is God in your life? What is he asking you? St Augustine said "God is closer to me than I am to myself." WOW! Photos from the pilgrimage can be found in the photo gallery. Also, a recording of the Abbey's Night Prayer can be found on YouTube: Part 1 & Part 2 Sandwich Making for the Homeless Meetings Saturday 12 May - 5:00 - 6:15pm. |
