Chef & Spice Fundraiser Monday 29 April at 7.00pm

In Support of Menphys and Sound Cafe.

As a token of thanks for permitting limited use of our car park, the owners of the restaurant are offering us a free fundraising evening at the Chef & Spice Restaurant.

The ticket price is £10 per person, which does not include the price of drinks.  The restaurant is an ‘all you can eat’ buffet of predominantly Indian food, although some non-Indian options are also available.

100 Tickets are now available – please help us to sell them all!

All the proceeds of the ticket sales and raffle will go to our two parish charities – Sound Cafe and Menphys - which we are supporting throughout 2019.

Please pray for

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Gerald Pearce who died recently.  His funeral reception will take place on Tuesday 23 April at 6.00pm and the funeral Mass in Latin will be at 11.00am on Wednesday 24 April.   May he rest in peace.

And for Deacon John Parker who died this week.  He was the Deacon at St Edward’s Aylestone for many years.  May he rest in peace.

Good Friday / Easter Collections

The second collection on Good Friday will be for the Holy Places of Palestine.

All money placed in the Easter Sunday Collection go to the Parish Fund.

Good Friday Fast & Abstinence

The Church’s Law re-affirms that Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are to be observed as days of fast and abstinence. Fasting means that the amount of food we eat is considerably reduced. Abstinence means that we give up a particular kind of food or drink or form of amusement. Those over eighteen are bound by the law of fasting until the beginning of their sixtieth year, while all over fourteen are bound by the law of abstinence. Priests and parents are urged to foster the spirit and practice of penance among those too young to be the subjects of either law.

Chrism Mass

This takes place on Wednesday 17 April at 11.30am at St Barnabas Cathedral Nottingham.  Each year at this Mass priests of the diocese renew the promises they made at their Ordination. The Bishop blesses the Holy Oils which are used in celebration of the Sacraments throughout the year.

Car Parking

The parish car park is available for you to use, along with the car park behind the HSBC bank on weekends, please park thoughtfully to allow as many people to use those facilities as possible.  There is no limit for street parking on a Sunday in the surrounding streets.  Please do not obstruct the footpaths or park on the grass areas around the church, as this is the only garden area we have.
